Caratage theme documentation
Caratage is a Shopify theme for jewelry and accessory brands that sell a curated collection. This guide explains how to set up the theme, what each section does, and how to get help.
Getting started
- Add the theme. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and add Caratage from the Theme Store.
- Open the theme editor. Click Customize. The editor shows the home page first; use the page selector at the top to switch between templates (product, collection, cart, pages).
- Set your brand basics. Open Theme settings (the gear icon) and set your logo, favicon, colors, and fonts.
- Create your menus. In Content > Menus, edit Main menu for the header and Footer menu for the footer. Menus can have up to three levels.
- Add content. Replace the demo text and images section by section. Every section and block can be reordered, hidden, or removed.
Tip: Images use the focal point you set in Content > Files or in the image picker, so the important part of each photo stays visible when it's cropped.
Theme settings
| Group | What you can change |
|---|---|
| Logo and favicon | Favicon (32 × 32 px recommended). The logo itself is set in the Header section. |
| Colors | Five color schemes. Each scheme has background, text, heading, accent, primary and secondary button, and border colors. Sections pick a scheme from their own settings. |
| Typography | Heading, body, and accent fonts from the Shopify font library, a size scale for headings and body, and letter case and spacing for the accent font (menus, buttons, labels). |
| Layout | Page width, page margin, and grid spacing. |
| Buttons and forms | Button corner radius and border thickness, input corner radius, and the sale color. |
| Product cards | Card style, image ratio, second image on hover, text alignment, vendor, and the quick add button. |
| Badges | Sale percentage badge, "New" badge duration, best seller badge, and the low stock threshold. |
| Cart | What happens after adding to cart (open the cart drawer, show a notification, or go to the cart page), the free shipping threshold, cart recommendations, and the gift note field. |
| Animations | Smooth scrolling on desktop, reveal on scroll, and image zoom on cards. All animations respect the visitor's reduced motion preference. |
| Social media | Links to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube, used in the footer and the contact page. |
Badges
- Sale shows the percentage saved when a variant has a compare-at price.
- New shows on products tagged
new. You can also show it automatically for products added in the last few days by setting "New" badge duration; set it to 0 to rely on the tag only. - Best seller shows on products tagged
best-seller. - Low stock ("Only 3 left") uses real inventory. It only appears when inventory tracking is on and the variant can't be oversold.
Header and footer
Header
- Logo: upload an image, or leave it empty to show your store name. An optional inverse logo is used on the transparent header over images.
- Layout: logo left or logo center. With the logo centered, Menu items shown on the right moves the last menu items next to the icons on desktop.
- Sticky header and Transparent header on home page (used when the first section is a hero).
- Customer account menu: the menu shown in the account sheet (default:
customer-account-main-menu). - Country/region and language selectors: shown on desktop and in the mobile menu when your store has more than one option.
- Search: opens a search panel with suggestions for products, collections, pages, and blog posts as you type.
Footer
- Add Text, Menu, Newsletter, and app blocks as columns.
- Toggle social links, payment icons, policy links, and "Powered by Shopify".
- Follow on Shop shows when Shop Pay is enabled for your store.
- Country/region and language selectors can also appear in the footer.
Announcement bar
Write one message per line; messages rotate automatically. Keep each message short so it fits on mobile.
Home page sections
All sections below can be added to any page template.
| Section | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Hero | Full-width image with heading, text, and buttons. Supports a separate mobile image and an overlay that darkens the image where the text sits. |
| Marquee | A scrolling line of short phrases with a separator icon. |
| Benefits bar | Shipping, returns, gift wrap, or secure checkout promises with icons. |
| Image tiles | Category or gift guide tiles with image, subheading, title, and link. Choose an even grid or a large first tile. |
| Product list | Products from a collection, with an optional "View all" button. |
| Featured product | One product in an editorial layout with add to cart. Accepts text, button, collapsible, Custom Liquid, and app blocks. |
| Image with text | Brand story or studio section with an optional small detail image. |
| Section | A flexible section built from blocks (text, image, button, group). Use it for custom layouts without code. |
| Brand values | Three or more numbered values with short descriptions. |
| Testimonials | Customer quotes. Use real reviews only. |
| Social gallery | A grid of images you choose, with a link to your profile. It doesn't connect to any social platform. |
| Blog posts | Recent posts from a blog. |
| FAQ | Questions and answers as collapsible blocks, with a contact link. |
| Logo list | Logos or names of stockists or press. Use real partners only. |
| Custom Liquid | Add app snippets or your own Liquid code. |
Product pages
The Product information section is made of blocks you can reorder or remove:
| Block | Notes |
|---|---|
| Vendor | Optional link to the vendor's collection page. |
| Product title | Heading size can be adjusted. |
| Price | Shows sale and unit prices, a tax note, and Shop Pay Installments when enabled in your store. |
| Variant picker | Buttons or dropdown. Color swatches come from Shopify's category metafields. Choosing a variant updates the price, availability, URL, and image. |
| Buy buttons | Quantity selector, add to cart, dynamic checkout buttons, gift wrap option, and a sticky add to cart bar on mobile. Gift card products show a recipient form instead of gift wrap. |
| Pickup availability | Shows where the selected variant can be picked up. Appears when local pickup is enabled for at least one location. |
| Shipping info | A short shipping message. An optional countdown to your order cutoff time uses your store's time zone. Hidden on gift cards. |
| Secure checkout | Payment icons from your enabled payment methods. |
| Description | Shown open or as a collapsible. Lists in your description (for example "Material: Gold-plated brass") are styled as a clean label and value list. |
| Text, Button, Image, Collapsible content, Spacer, Custom Liquid, Apps | General-purpose blocks. |
Media: stacked, two-column grid, or carousel layout. Images, videos, external videos, and 3D models are supported. Assign images to variants in Shopify admin so the right image shows when a variant is selected.
Recommendations: the Product recommendations section shows related products (automatic) or complementary products (set in the Search & Discovery app).
Collections, search, and filters
- Collection products: choose desktop and mobile columns, products per page, the collection image as a banner, and the description.
- Filters and sorting: filters come from the Search & Discovery app (availability, price, product type, tags, metafields). The theme shows them on collection and search pages.
- Search results: products, pages, and articles with the same filters.
Cart
- Cart drawer: opens after adding to cart (configurable in Theme settings > Cart). Includes a free shipping progress bar, quantity changes without reloading, cart recommendations, and a gift note.
- Cart page: items with unit prices, discounts, and selling plans; a sticky order summary; a gift note; three assurance lines with icons; and product recommendations below.
- Free shipping bar: set the threshold in your store currency. Leave it empty to hide the bar. The threshold isn't converted for other currencies.
- Cart recommendations: pick a collection in Theme settings > Cart (for example small gifts).
Gifting
- Gift wrap: enable it in the Buy buttons block. When selected, it's added to the order as a line item property so you can see it on the order.
- Gift note: customers can add a note in the cart drawer or on the cart page. It's saved as the order note.
- Gift cards: create a gift card product in Products > Gift cards. The product page shows a form where customers can enter the recipient's email, name, a message, and a send date.
Store locator
Use the Stockists page template (or add the Stockists section to any page):
- Create a page in Online Store > Pages and choose the stockists template.
- In the theme editor, add a Stockist block for each location: name, type (showroom, store, hotel boutique, or online), city, district, address, phone, website, and an optional logo.
- City filters are created automatically from the cities you enter. Online stockists get their own filter.
- Turn on Show map to display an embedded map; selecting a stockist moves the map to it. No API key is needed.
Contact and other pages
- Contact: contact details (phone, WhatsApp, email, address, opening hours) beside the Shopify contact form. Submissions go to your store email.
- About: the about template combines hero, image with text, values, and image sections. Edit or replace them freely.
- Password page: shown while your store is password protected.
- 404 page: shown for missing pages.
Markets, languages, and customer accounts
- Country/region selector: add more countries in Settings > Markets. The selector lists each country with its currency.
- Language selector: add languages in Settings > Languages. The theme includes English and Turkish translations.
- Customer accounts: the account icon uses Shopify's account component. It opens the account sheet with the new customer accounts, or links to the sign-in page with legacy accounts.
Performance and accessibility
- Images load at the right size for each screen, and images below the fold load lazily.
- Keep hero images under about 3000 px wide and compress them before uploading.
- Use alt text for every image in Content > Files or the product editor.
- Keep enough contrast between text and background when you change colors. The default schemes meet WCAG AA contrast.
- Animations are turned off automatically for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
FAQ
How do I change the logo size? Open the Header section and adjust Logo width.
Why don't I see the country or language selector? They only appear when your store has more than one country or language. Add them in Settings > Markets and Settings > Languages.
Why isn't pickup availability showing on the product page? Enable local pickup for at least one location in Settings > Shipping and delivery, and make sure the variant is stocked at that location.
Why isn't Shop Pay Installments showing? It appears when Shop Pay Installments is enabled in Settings > Payments and the product price is eligible.
How do I show the "New" or "Best seller" badges?
Tag products with new or best-seller. The "New" badge can also be shown automatically for recent products in Theme settings > Badges.
How do I make the "Only X left" badge work? Turn on inventory tracking for the product and don't allow selling when out of stock. Then set Low stock threshold in Theme settings > Badges.
Can I use a three-level menu? Yes. In Content > Menus, nest a menu item under a second-level item. The desktop dropdown and the mobile menu both show the third level.
How do I add filters to collections? Install Shopify's free Search & Discovery app and add filters there. They appear on collection and search pages automatically.
How do I add an app's block to the product page? In the theme editor, open the product template, click Add block in Product information, and choose the app block.
Can I edit the theme's code? Yes, but we recommend duplicating the theme first. Custom code changes aren't covered by theme support, and you'll need to reapply them after theme updates.
How do I update the theme? When an update is available, Shopify shows it in Online Store > Themes. Updating adds a new copy of the theme with your settings carried over.
